This site grew out of the oft-discussed but just-as-oft neglected desire of several former members to assemble a coffee-table book cataloging the exploits of the Neoteric Ensemble of DeKalb, Illinois. JP's been talking to me about this since at least the mid-90's. We planned to ask fellow veterans of the old milieu to loan their thoughts, poems, scores, posters, video stills, commentary, and any other remnants of the group's ten years of activity to be reproduced in an archival form and made available to the world. Publication costs could conceivably be offset by sales of the book—the majority probably to the admittedly small interest group of former hosts, members, and supporters—so the product's finished quality would depend as much on a delicate balance of expectation and largesse as on the condition of the artifacts contributed.
This page is the index to the Neoteric Ensemble book project and all things Neoteric. I'm titling the book ''Ephemera: urged on by Joseph Pinzarrone'' until JP decides on something better (The subtitle is from the 1985 program notes for [[Ayer_Collection_0009|''Virtuoso Works for Elastic Theatre'']]).

Enter Web 2.0. It occurred to us that maybe developments of the last two decades would make this project easier and less expensive and might even deliver an acceptable product with next to no distribution cost. At the very least, materials collection would be simplified, since we could post scanned images on line. And some of the multimedia flavor might even be preserved if we used an electronic format.
Please consider uploading whatever you've got that's related to the Neoteric Ensemble of DeKalb, Illinois. If it's your own work, assume it will be used in upcoming production(s) based on this site. It's especially useful if you add the phrase "Used with permission" in the [[Special:Upload]] comment text.

So welcome to the wiki. Please [mailto:gongmaster@wikigong.com contact me] if you'd got stuff to upload and I'll send you a key. Better yet, if you're able to secure a wiki, tell me how so we can skip that step....
We want to check out everything from anybody, so please pass the links on to anyone you know who took part or has an interest.

The Neoteric book project

This page is the index to the Neoteric Ensemble book project and all things Neoteric. I'm titling the book Ephemera: urged on by Joseph Pinzarrone until JP decides on something better (The subtitle is from the 1985 program notes for Virtuoso Works for Elastic Theatre).

Please consider uploading whatever you've got that's related to the Neoteric Ensemble of DeKalb, Illinois. If it's your own work, assume it will be used in upcoming production(s) based on this site. It's especially useful if you add the phrase "Used with permission" in the Special:Upload comment text.

Collection of David and Rebecca Ayer

This is where most of my time's been going this week. I've scanned in almost everything worth scanning, which amounted to about fifty graphic images, and am busy annotating them and uploading them to the site. Check out the link for the current list.

Templates

The collection is a compiled list of independent pages which are then collected by [transclusion]. I had the idea that it would be useful to organize things so that files could be used in separate views: say, as a collection but also appearing in an article about a band or individual. So there are also templates for:
